Words and a Grain of Salt

Words and a Grain of Salt

I've been thinking about what to write and share about myself. I'm somewhat of an overthinker, so whatever I share, please know it has been vetted non-stop by an overactive mind.

So, after all the overthinking, I decided to write about words and a grain of salt. What does that even mean?

It means that what I write and share on this website, or anywhere else, are my opinions and musings. So please take them with a grain of salt.

Why So Salty?

Merriam-Webster defines 'take it with a grain of salt' as a skeptical attitude.

I'm not correct all the time. I don't believe anyone is. So you have a duty to be skeptical. I hope to earn your trust, but you shouldn't give it away blindly.

I haven't lived a perfect life and have made many mistakes. I've learned many lessons from them, but that doesn't mean I won't make mistakes in the future.

I am fallible.

I try my best to become a better person every day, and some days I fail miserably. Though, some days I get it right and grow in the process.

I believe life isn't a competition but a canvas on which our consciousness grows and evolves.

We'll leave this world one day with only what we've experienced and learned.

No Offense Please

I try not to offend others with my actions, but sometimes it happens anyway; some will be offended no matter what.

My main goal for sharing anything is the hope it will leave others in a better place. I hope the words and music uplift and inspire.

The things I create are born from my perspective on life and the world. I'm not saying it's right; it's just mine.

I believe none of us are exactly the same, making it difficult to see eye to eye on most things.

I also believe different perspectives make the world more enjoyable. Differing views and stories give us a greater picture of life. We don't need to agree on everything all the time.

Words and a Grain of Salt

I had a teacher who said, "Believe only half of what you see and none of what you hear."

We really should take everything with a grain of salt. Be skeptical. You have the right and almost duty to be wary.

Why would I ask you to be skeptical of me? I believe a healthy dose of skepticism helps us learn to think for ourselves.

Many will tell you they have all the answers, and you should listen to and think exactly like them.

I don't have all the answers, and I'm not going to pretend I do.

I know artists and musicians are often placed on pedestals. I will fail you if I'm seated on one. Not because I want to but merely because I am only a person at the end of the day.

I believe in the words I say and the songs I write and hope they uplift, inspire, bring hope and provoke thought. I also know I am fallible.

I believe that if you seek truth, you will find it, for your heart is a compass that will guide you.
