This week I've been working on new music, a music video, and the holidays…at least trying to get ready for the holidays.

It's been a crazy past few months for me. I've been putting in a lot of work getting my first single, Sober (So Long), released and the initial setup of my business and record label Phonographic Records, LLC.

I still need to get everything done, but I'm getting there. It feels like I'm always behind and need to play catch up. I'm sure many of you can relate.

I am incredibly grateful for everyone that has listened to my music, watched one of my Youtube videos, or supported me in any other way. Thank you!

Staying Busy in a Mad-as-Hell World

It has been nice staying busy and not paying attention to the insanity that everyone is in favor of calling reality.

Don't get me wrong; I am still quite aware of the show that's going on. I don't want to ruminate and wallow in the depths of doom continually laid at our doorsteps.

It all gets to be detrimental and draining. I don't care if the collective wants to blow the world up and let it burn. I will continue to live and try to make my small part of the world better.

Going North and a Sober (So Long) Music Video

My wife, Rachel, and I had a great time recording video footage for my upcoming Sober (So Long) music video.

Eric and Rachel Nelson on the Lake Superior Beach

We traveled to some acreage we own that was gifted to us by my father-in-law to get some footage for the music video. The property has an old hunting cabin in disrepair, and it was a perfect spot to get some footage.

Worn Down Hunting Cabin in Woods

We were only minutes away from Lake Superior, so we had to get some beach footage!

It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful, pristine, and untouched the Lake Superior shoreline is where I live.

Upper Peninsula Lake Superior Beach

I live within ten miles of Lake Michigan, 35 miles from Lake Superior, and approximately 60 miles from Lake Huron.

I love the Great Lakes! Growing up, I never realized how blessed I was to have lived here for most of my life.

I now have ample video footage, and I've been busy editing and getting the video ready to release.

I've been working with the free version of the video editing application Davinci Resolve and absolutely love it. If you're looking for a fantastic video editor, you should check it out.

The free version is nothing to sneeze at, and the paid version price is slightly lower than Final Cut Pro (at the time of writing this).

A New Song In The Works

I'm working on the next Auroralnaut single and hope for a December release. We'll see what happens, but I should be able to accomplish it.

I have other songs ready to go, but I love the new idea I recently came up with and thought it might be a better song for the next single.

I've also upgraded my aging iMac studio computer to a newer Mac Studio and have been working on getting everything set up to how I like it.

I have a slower internet connection, and it takes time to re-download all the software I use for music production. Amongst the benefits of living in the middle of nowhere, good internet is not one of them.

The Holiday Season Is Upon Us

It's that time of year or heading into that time again, and like every other topic on earth, there are differing opinions. I'm talking about the holiday season.

Some love the holiday season, and others could leave them, to put it nicely. I'm in the crowd that enjoys the holidays - not everything, but most things.

It will be a more challenging time for my family this year since Mom passed away last year on December 7th. It's a day that will live in infamy for me.

Last year was a dark time for me and the holiday season was no different. I'm hoping for a less dark and discouraging holiday season this year. It's challenging to be in a jovial mood when part of your heart is missing.

On a less sad note, I will be picking my son up from college tomorrow and bringing him home this weekend for his birthday. I'm excited to have him home for a few days and he'll be back home for Thanksgiving and during winter break!

Just a Quick Update

This blog post was supposed to be a quick update and turned into a book! I have more to say than I thought I did…lol!

I hope everyone is doing well and you have an excellent week and upcoming holiday season. If you don't celebrate any of the numerous holidays, I still hope you have wonderful forthcoming fall/winter season.

You may get tired of hearing me say this, but thank you so much for listening and for your continued support!
