About Auroralnaut

Hi, my name is Eric Nelson, and Auroralnaut is my music project. I'm a singer-songwriter who writes, records, and produces music in a small studio I built that sits behind my home.

I do all this on the side and in my spare time. Sometimes I get time, and sometimes life keeps me too busy.

Writing and recording songs has been a passion of mine since I was young. I'm currently in the 25th year of my 10-year plan. Things may not have happened how I would have liked, but I'm still moving forward.

I am a former Paramedic and left the profession I loved due to mental health concerns. As much as it hurts to leave something behind, I'm just as excited to walk through a new door.

I have hit many dead-end roads and experienced numerous failures, but I'm grateful for them all because they have brought me to where I am today. I have learned many invaluable lessons.

I continue to create music because it is what I love to do, no matter what may come.

An Introverted Artist

I tend to fall on the introverted side and like to hang in the background. I am more at home by myself than with a group of people. So releasing music and creating this website puts me far outside my comfort zone. I'm not going to lie; it's difficult.

I'm releasing music because I believe art should be shared. I'm eternally grateful for the artists that pushed past their fears and insecurities to share what they created. I've gained endless inspiration from their creations.

Maybe someone will be inspired by what I create. Who knows? Stranger things have happened.

In the Beginning

I've been on this planet since January 1977. I was born in a small town in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. During a snowstorm, no less. And I still live within fifteen miles of my hometown.

I live in a sparsely populated area with my wife and two children. And I absolutely love living here. There's something about the Upper Peninsula that feels like home to me. The winters tend to be harsh, but they are still beautiful.

My children aren't exactly children anymore. My oldest has graduated, and my youngest isn't too far behind. So it appears I'm starting a new chapter in my life.

My wife and I are also learning to live a more sustainable and self-sufficient life by growing food, foraging, and raising livestock.

What is an Auroralnaut?

I have a fairly common name that quite a few different artists have already claimed, so I decided to use Auroralnaut.

Auroralnaut is a word I created based on other terms.

The definition of auroral is "of or like the dawn" and "pertaining to the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)."

The suffix naut forms nouns meaning voyager or traveler. The form -naut comes from the Greek naútēs, meaning "sailor."

Auroralnaut loosely means Northern Light traveler, which I felt was both meaningful and representative, not to mention available.

Unconditional Love and Freedom

Before I end this, I want you to know I try not to take myself too seriously. I'm not perfect, and I'll probably never be. I'm just a person. I make mistakes and try to slog through life like everyone else.

I will always err on the side of love and freedom. I believe we are all connected. I also believe humanity will only move forward if we take responsibility for our actions, learn to love our neighbors as ourselves, and live as one.

Thank you for stopping by and checking out my website. If what I'm doing resonates with you, please consider sharing it with others.

If you listen on a streaming service such as Spotify, please follow me to hear new songs when they are released. Also, liking songs and adding them to playlists are great ways of supporting the music.

I am an independent artist and fund everything out of my pocket, so any support helps me create more music.

Thank you for helping get the word out. I'm incredibly and eternally grateful for your continued support!
